Thank you from TEAM Seafield

As we move on from this surreal spring of “Blursdays” into the long, relaxing days of summer we Islander’s love so well, one can’t help but feel that life is beginning to return to some version of normal. While we know we must continue to make careful choices, there is undeniably a sense of optimism in the air. In fact, as you probably already know, we reached a significant milestone this week…and by we, I mean all of us.

As of yesterday, Vancouver Island is reported to no longer have any active confirmed cased of COVID-19. Now, as exciting as that sounds, we know from our beloved Dr. Bonnie Henry that there are most likely still some cases out in the community that are undiagnosed. However here at Seafield, we remain hopeful that the efforts made by our local residents will continue to keep us safe and healthy.

Like all of you, we feel lucky every day to be part of this amazing country, part of our Beautiful BC, part of this incredible Island, and part of the Colwood community.

However, it took much more than luck to get us here…and today we wish to express our gratitude

To our healthcare professionals, our first responders, and to educators and child care providers of every description. To our grocery store workers, bank tellers, and gas station attendants. To our waste management folks, and utility people. To government employees on every level. To our bus drivers, airline employees and ferry workers. Our restaurant owners and workers, farmers and farm workers, truck drivers, and all those who keep our food supply secure. Construction workers, trades people and…well, the list is truly endless. Thank you so much for all you have done, and continue to do.

Our gratitude, however, goes much further than that. In this moment we want to express our deepest thanks to every single member of our community who has taken the steps, made sacrifices large and small, for the greater good. You have carefully social distanced, you have stayed home, you have worn masks, you have washed your hands and disinfected surfaces. And through all of that, you have protected your friends and neighbors, young and old. You have cared in every way for our children, and for our elders. For all of this, we thank you.

We know this path still stretches out before us; there will be rainy days, and sunny skies, and a tremendous amount of mist and fog. However every epic journey is filled with challenges, and it is the company we keep along the road that makes all the difference.

We are grateful to have such incredible traveling companions.
